Rainwater Harvesting
It is now viable to harvest rainwater for your whole household. This includes rainwater harvesting, storing and pumping rainwater for bathing, showering, toilet flushing, pool, laundry and irrigation. Rainwater harvesting together with other Water Rhapsody products can save up to 90% of your water bill.
Grey Water
A bath uses 120 litres and a shower 80 litres of water. When used, that water is called grey water. You pay for it, and then it all goes down the drain. Water Rhapsody Grey Water System uses this grey water to immediately irrigate your garden, saving you a substantial portion of your water bill.

Water Restrictions
So what about the water restrictions that are implemented in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropole? About a month ago the average dam level in the NMB catchment area was at 31%. A next and final phase of water restrictions was due if it dropped to 30% and below. We have 12 months of supply left on 30%. The good rains during May and now June have boosted the level up to 47% and it should still rise after yesterday’s and today’s expected rain fall. Water restrictions were introduced at 60% and we are still well below that. The restrictions remains for now. Keep on using water sparingly and keep on installing water conservations systems.

Eastern Cape Dam Levels
Average level of major supply dams for Nelson Mandela Bay increased slightly The average level of major storage dams supplying the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality increased by 3% after good rain fell in the city’s catchment areas. On Friday the average dam level was 31,1%. The dam levels have shown an encouraging move upwards by 3% with a possibility of more from runoff after the good rainfalls over the last few days . Remember though we have not made it through the woods yet….instead of being 2 weeks away from the next phase of restrictions (before the rain) , we are about 8 weeks . However , the water situation is a long term project and the history of this area`s water supply makes it clear that we need to be vigilant at all times…..the effective use of water must always be applied , even if the dams are full !The inflow into our dams may result in a further increase of dam levels later this week. It is important to note that the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is currently busy with the implementation of the R450 million upgrade of the Nooitgedacht Low level scheme to allow for an additional 70 Ml water to be … Continue reading
